The owners of this Iveagh Gardens brick dwelling were experiencing a cold and uncomfortable home at times in addition to needing some more space for their
family. A small reconfiguration of the ground floor to achieve a new kitchen, dining and Utility space was allied with a major deep retrofit of the existing fabric. The
dwelling used Diathonite insulating cork and lime plaster to allow the wall fabric to manage moisture and improve its thermal performance. A new insulated floor was
installed roof insulation was upgraded and a demand-controlled ventilation system was installed.
The project used Electric Ireland Superhomes as the One Stop Shop for the SEAI
Deep Retrofit Grant.
The dwelling achieved an A3 BER.
